One product review Kiko nail care color refresher

Hi fairies,
Today we’ll talk about nail care and nail products; I love for my nails to be long but I have to say most of the time they reach a medium length, then one or two get broken and I have to shorten them all. Does it happen to you too? In the past I managed to let them grow out quite a lot without doing anything more than what I do now, I think it depends on how much I use my hands, on stress, weather and so on.
I had to try some of the new nail care products kiko came out with last year, and I’d like to tell you what I think about the color refresher top coat, which is quite a unique product when it comes to low cost brands.

Let’s see how it’s described: Nail polish. The formula is enriched with kukui oil.
Revitalizes a manicure’s colour and shine. The liquid formula lengthens the life of a manicure and covers chipped nail polish. The applicator has an ergonomic grip, making it easy to hold, while the flat brush packed with 1000 transparent bristles smoothly applies the product. The modern, exclusive packaging includes a transparent glass bottle with a silver outer cap decorated on top with the KK logo. An elegant polish for a neat, professional-looking manicure. Price 4.90 £- 4.90 €.

What I like : I like the packaging with the double lid, just like high end nail polish brands, that prevents clumsy people like myself from spilling the product! It’s described as an actual nail polish but I would say it’s a top coat even though there’s a slight pink tint to it. The consistency is not too liquid nor too thick and it hasn’t thickened so far, which is good ( I have opened it a couple of months ago). I apply it as a regular top coat and it adds a lot of shine to nail polish; it dries fast so I can use it late at night without worrying of getting lines on my nails when I wake up in the morning. What I truly love about this product though, is I can reapply it after a few days to keep my nail art looking as good as new: it really works, it adds shine and it levels up any small chips you might have! It doesn’t feel heavy and you can layer it , which is great. It’s a huge help when I don’t have time to do my nails and I need one day more, it’s a must have when I travel, it’s cheap and it does what it says!

What I don’t like: I couldn’t find any faults to this product, I think quality price ratio is good and it’s definitely worth trying it if you do your nails on a regular basis and you hate when one nail chip and you don’t have time to remove your nail polish and apply new one.

My verdict: I hope it won’t get discontinued, I love it and I’ll keep purchasing it!

Ciao fatine,

kiko_nail_care_color_refresher_review
photo from www.beautydea.it

eye makeup look rose petal

Hi fairies,
I’m feeling romantic today but I didn’t have much time to do my makeup, so I came up with this look, which is very simple and it’s got a touch of color in the lower lashline; I like the way it looks, it could be a look for neutral lovers who want to step out of their comfort zone but they don’t want to go overboard, and it’s a nice spring look as well!
I started by softly defining my crease with a warm brown eyeshadow and I defused the line with a pencil brush bringing the color up; I added a hazelnut eyeshadow along the edges to help blending the brown and , when I was happy with the gradient, I applied a cream eyeshadow as my browbone highlighter. On my lid I patted a matte white eyeshadow being careful not to overlap the brown in the crease but, if you do you can easily fix it with a detail brush . on the lower lashline I used a pink coral eyeshadow that gives the look a romantic and girly twist, and I completed it with a winged liner and mascara, and that was it, I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,

eye makeup look frosty moon

Hi fairies,
I love this dreamy look I created with one of my favorite palette, Sugarpill Sparkle baby palette! There are four gorgeous eyeshadows in it, they’re sparkly and pastel , very girly and romantic!
I started by defining my crease with a fuchsia eyeshadow and a pencil brush, I did a round shape and I built the color bit by bit;I blended the edges to create a nice gradient and I also added a bit of frostine to further blend the fuchsia. I picked a white pink duochrome eyeshadow as my browbone highlighter. in the outer half of my lid I used the frosty blue called candy crush, while on the inner half I used the peachy eyeshadow called kitten parade. I completed the look with a winged liner and mascara, and that was it, I hope you like it!

One Product review: e.l.f. high definition powder

Hi fairies,
I don’t know about you but my makeup isn’t complete without face powder, I need it to mattify my skin as it’s oily, and to prevent shine to show up during the day. If you’ve got dry skin you can probably skip this step, but I can’t , that’s why I like trying different brands to see how they work : I’ve got a couple of high end favorites I keep repurchasing , but I like to have a low cost one to use when I just have to run errands or when I go out for few hours.

I got this one last summer, let’s see how it’s described: The e.l.f. High Definition Powder is a translucent, versatile loose powder that creates a flawless, "soft focus" effect to the skin. Masks fine lines and imperfections for a glowing, radiant complexion. This incredibly soft and invisible powder is ideal for everyday wear, either alone or over your favorite e.l.f. foundation. Our HD Powder is a makeup artist and e.l.f. customer favorite, and at only $6, it can be yours at a fraction of the cost of the competition! Price 6.00 $ - 6.80 € for 8 g.

e.l.f._high_definition_powder_review

What I like: it’s a loose powder and I like it better than compact one, but you need to be careful not to spill it and, if you’ve never used loose powders it will take a while to get used to it! I love the texture, it’s velvety and a little goes a long way, I picked the shade translucent which is the universal one, and it’s actually translucent so it will match almost any skin tone. I apply it with a powder brush or with a powder puff when I want to concentrate the product on certain areas, for example under my eyes to set concealer, and it works really well because it’s not cakey, it doesn’t set into fine lines and it makes my skin look flawless . it doesn’t change the color of my foundation because it’s translucent, but it’s available in other shades if you want to add some color or you need to lighten your foundation a tiny bit. It doesn’t feel heavy at all, it’s lightweight, it mattifies my skin quite well and it keeps it matte for a decent amount of time, especially when it’s not too hot and humid. It’s a low cost face powder and, in my opinion, it performs extremely well for its price range, quality is good!

photo from www.elfcosmetics.com
What I don’t like : compared to one of my HG face powder, Mac set powder, it doesn’t keep my skin matte as long as that one, if your skin is very oily and when it’s very humid I wouldn’t recommend it because it’s not extremely long lasting, I noticed my t zone started looking shiny after 3-4 hours, which is not bad considering how cheap it is, but of course we can’t call it long lasting. If you apply too much powder on your face it will look powdery, you need to be careful especially when using a powder puff; you don’t need lots of product anyway, a little will do the job.

My verdict: it’s definitely a good low cost face powder, I dare say the best low cost one I’ve ever tried, I use it when I know I won’t be out all day or when I have to run quick errands and it works great at keeping my skin matte and flawless! You get 8 g of products for 7 euros, which is a lot of powder that will last forever,I definitely recommend it for combo to oily skin types! Unfortunately E.l.f. italian online store is closed now, so we can buy from UK one, I really hope they'll start selling in Italy again.

Italian version:

Ciao fatine,

e.l.f._high_definition_powder_review
photo from www.makeupalley.com

holo swirls nail art

Hi fairies,
Today’s nail art is simple but stunning, everybody could give it a try, you’ll be surprised at how easy it is! I learned how to do it during Smaltopedia2 , a contest I joined last year , and I recreated it several times since then, changing subject each time!
first thing to do is painting your nails with a dark nail polish, it could be black, dark blue or deep purple, what matters is you pick a dark shade to make your shapes stand out later ; I picked a dark blue that looks almost black, and I added a coat of blue glittery nail polish on top. Once my background was dry , I drew random swirls all over my nails with white acrylic paint, and then to fill them in I dipped a tiny nail art brush in one color and I mixed with water till I had a very diluted paint, and I brushed it on my swirls; I repeated this step with different colors, till I got the effect I was looking for, and that was it , I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,

One product review wycon long lasting liquid lipsticks

Hi fairies,
The product I’m talking about today is very popular, there are many reviews on it but I waited a while before buying one of them so I’m late with my opinion. Better late than never though, am I right?! Seriously, I wanted to share my opinion with you because I know many people are thinking of buying one of them and when I want to try a new product I like to read as many reviews as possible!

Let’s see how they’re described:  Long lasting liquid lipstick with matte nish. A soft and creamy texture for an immediate velvety effect. Paraben free. Price 6.90 €.

wycon_long_lasting_liquid_lipsticks_review

Texture: it’s very thin, liquid and creamy and it glides easily on my lips. It comes with a regular sponge applicator that works well, there’s no problem at reaching lips angles and edges and it allows me to be precise. I usually apply two layers because the texture is so thin it doesn’t provide full coverage after one layer, but it’s alright to stratify it as it doesn’t crack once it’s dry. It dries fast and it turns totally matte, but the best thing is this product is so comfortable it feels like you’re not wearing anything on your lips! It doesn’t set into fine lines, it gives a velvety finish, it doesn’t smudge and it doesn’t fade away! It’s by far the most comfortable liquid lipstick I’ve tried so far.

Color: I love the shades I bought, they’re all pretty natural but they’re pigmented, they don’t apply streaky nor patchy, the color is true to itself so what you see in the tube is what you get; there’s a wide range of shades from nude to vampy and gothic colors to please basically everybody, there are some unique shades as well so you can be sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.

wycon_long_lasting_liquid_lipsticks_review

Lasting power: as I was saying they’re very long lasting, once they’re set they don’t go anywhere so they’re perfect when you stay out all day and you don’t want to touch up your lips during the day; they don’t crack, they don’t feel dry at all, they are meal proof at least for my experience, of course if you eat very greasy dishes they might fade away because you know oil is the worst enemy of these kind of products, but if you pay attention while eating you won’t have any issues.

wycon_long_lasting_liquid_lipsticks_review
My verdict: before buying the first one I didn’t believe they were that good, after trying them I had to admit to myself they were extremely good, super comfortable and with a very interesting color range: dusty rose is , for instance, a unique and beautiful color and I’m obsessed with it! I definitely recommend them, they’re high quality and they’re not expensive!

Italian version:

Ciao fatine,

wycon_long_lasting_liquid_lipsticks_review
Vediamo come vengono descritti: Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick è un rossetto liquido dall’effetto opaco. Texture cremosa, stesura semplice e precisa grazie all’applicatore in feltro.

Eye makeup look caramel and ice

Hi fairies,
This look is a mix of warm and cold shades, it turned out to be very dramatic and I still don’t know if I like this color combo, what I know is I like trying new combos, sometimes the craziest ones turn out to be good!
I started by applying a caramel eyeshadow in the crease using a fluffy brush to defuse the color, and then I intensified by adding a bit of an orange eyeshadow in the outer half of my crease. With a teal eyeshadow and a flat shader brush I started defining my crease and I winged it out to make my eyes look wider;with a white creamy base I sculpted and defined my crease , and then I applied a cream eyeshadow on my lid. On top of it I patted some purple glitters, while in the inner corner I used a lavender eyeshadow. On my lower lashline I smoked out the orange eyeshadow I had previously used in the crease and that was it , I hope you like it!

Ciao fatine,

One product review kiko anti age foundation

Hi fairies,
Even though I’ve found my holy grail foundation, which is Mac studio fix fluid SPF 15, I still like trying new ones especially when it comes to low cost ones, because I’d love to have a couple of them to use on an everyday basis when I don’t need or want to use Mac one. That’s why I purchased Kiko anti age foundation, even though it didn’t sound like the perfect match for my skin type but it seemed to work better for normal to dry skin, but I tried few kiko foundations and, in my opinion, they perform well, so well that I repurchased the mat mousse just to mention one, and I was curious about this one.

Let’s see how it’s described:  Cream foundation specific for mature skin, with a comfortable texture and enriched with ingredients to fight the signs of imperfections due to natural skin aging.
A sublime synergy between make up and skin care, developed to complement KIKO's Anti-Age treatment system: it awakens the youthfulness of the face and gives the complexion an even, smooth and radiant appearance.Rich, comfortable and perfectly blendable, the texture of Anti-Age Foundation SPF 15 gives adjustable coverage: lighter for a fresh effect - in harmony with the complexion - fuller for a total, yet natural, perfection result. Latest generation photochromic pigments create an overall radiance on the face, which is stable over time and when the light intensity changes: the skin appears fresh and rested, while imperfections and skin spots are minimized. Its exclusive formula contains K2 age-conceal, an exclusive pool of active ingredients with smoothing, firming and anti-streak properties, including:
- An ingredient of biotechnological origin extracted from a plant known for its capacity to fight the signs of skin aging (lines, dryness, loss of density) linked to hormonal changes.
- Polypeptide complex that improves the integrity of the skin's support structure. Nourishes, redensifies and reduces the look of lines, giving firmness.
- Innovative Vitamin C derivative, a potent antioxidant, that is able to inhibit the uneven formation of melanin and therefore prevents brown age spots. Anti-Age Foundation SPF 15
is also enriched with sunscreens to protect facial skin from photo-aging. Price 15.90 £- 15.90 € for 30 ml.

kiko_antiage_foundation_review

What I like : I like the black and gold packaging and the pump that allows to get the right amount of product out without wasting any. It worked till the end so I give it a thumbs up as we all know sometimes pumps break before we finish a product. It’s got a creamy consistency, not too runny nor too thick, in my opinion is the right one for an even and easy application. I apply it both with a beauty blender or with a flat kabuki type brush and I’m satisfied either way as it’s not streaky, it’s not patchy, it gives time to work it on my face before setting, it doesn’t emphasize thin lines and pores and it gives medium coverage so it’s great as an everyday foundation. It’s got SPF 15 but it’s not a full spectrum one as it happens with all makeup products, so I apply a sunblock as base anyway, but I always appreciate foundations with spf. I set it with a face powder, a step I take with any foundations because I got oily skin and I need to set my foundation to keep shine at bay, and it performed really well even in summer when I get shiny really fast! It feels moisturizing without being greasy, which is good.

What I don’t like: the smell. Seriously, the smell is awful. I’m not sensitive to smells, I usually don’t mind them but this one oh my god! I hate the smell, I can’t describe it because it’s not floral nor sweet, it’s very peculiar and long lasting though and I wish they changed it because it’s seriously hard to use it even for me. I haven’t noticed any radiance but it could be it didn’t show because I set it with matte face powder. After 5-6 hours it starts to look a bit cakey around my mouth and my nose, but it was to be expected by a radiant foundation that isn’t the best option for oily skin.

My verdict: I might repurchase it even if I really don’t like the scent, but all in all it’s a lightweight foundation that evens out my skin and it’s a great alternative to high end foundations when I just have to run errands; it’s nice to switch to a luminous foundation once in a while, I always gravitate towards mattyfing ones so I like to have this one on hand.

Italian version:

ciao fatine,
