Kiko tops and flops

Hi fairies,

I thought it was a nice idea to write posts where I tell you what products I hate and what products I love of each brand, or at least of the brands I tried several products! Of course the first brand had to be Kiko, I am a Kiko addict as you all know and I’ve tried almost all of their products, we could say I’m an expert! What I love of this brand is the quality price ratio, which is great, and the wide variety of products they sell, not only makeup wise but also skin care wise; if I should chose only one brand to purchase from for the rest of my life I think I would choose Kiko because I’m sure I can find skin care products and lots of makeup, I can find a wide color range, I know I won’t get bored because there are several limited editions every year, that’s why I love it so much!

Let’s start with flops, this way we’ll end up with tops !

4. color shock cream eyeshadows: they came out with a limited edition a couple of years ago and I bought two of them, a bright metallic electric blue and a soft rose gold . I use the blue one as eyeliner and I like it because it’s very pigmented, once it sets it doesn’t go anywhere , it’s easy to apply and it looks gorgeous, so it’s not a total flop , and I use it as an eyeshadow base as well, but I listed them as flops because they don’t look nice applied on their own: they crease and they get dry, they set into fine lines and the overall effect isn’t flattering in my opinion. When used as a colored cream base they are alright, but I wouldn’t repurchase them.

3. smart lipsticks with a frosty finish: this is the cheapest lipstick line Kiko has got, the color range is wide and you can be sure you’ll find a color you love, I actually love several of them, they are great everyday lipsticks, they’re cheap, I like the creamy finish and I have to say they are pretty longlasting considering their price range, but when it comes to frosty ones my opinion changes : I think it’s a finish that was in years ago and now it looks dated, it’s just not what I would go for. The quality is the same as the other lipsticks, it’s just they look vintage so to speak.

2.  automatic lip pencils : while I appreciate the wide variety of shades , I’ve been disappointed by their quality: they break very easily, basically every time I used them they break and I have to throw a piece of them away. I am very careful, I don’t press them hard, it’s just the texture that isn’t the greatest on the market.

1. the most disappointing product I’ve ever tried is the face brush! It lasted only five days and then it literally fell apart, I was shocked! I know some people have used it for years, I don’t know why mine didn’t perform well, I washed it after each use and I let it dry before putting it back in the box.I was so bummed when I found bristles everywhere, I sure didn’t expect it to last less than one week!

Let’s move to my tops:

5. unlimited stylo lipsticks: I talked about them as well, here you can read my review, I own 14 of them and that tells you how much I like them! The texture is velvety and creamy , very easy to apply, but once it sets it turns to a matte finish and it’s extremely long lasting, they last all day long ! I love them , I can eat and they don’t fade nor smudge, they feel a bit dry after few hours but to me it’s not a problem because my lips aren’t dry. I suggest you to use a lip balm if your lips are dry though.

4. long lasting stick eyeshadows : they are , probably, some of the most loved kiko products, and rightfully so! They are very long lasting, the texture is buttery , they slide on the lid really well, they’re easy to blend but they set in few seconds and , once they’re set, they stay in place all day! I love them as eyeshadow base to make colors pop and to help loose pigments to adhere to the lid and to last longer, but they can be used on their own for a quick makeup look. They come in different finishes and in many different shades, from neutral to bright ones!

3. kiko infinity eyeshadows: I talked about them several times, here you can read my review, I love these eyeshadows because the color range is really huge, you can find matte, shimmer and satin finish eyeshadows. you can store them in their customizable palette or you can use a Z palette, it’s up to you; they are very pigmented, easy to blend and extremely long lasting, the only downside is that they are a bit powdery, but I can deal with it considering how cheap they are and how good the quality is!

2. super color liners: if you love playing with colorful eyeliners this product is for you! I love matte shades, pearly ones are a bit too watery for my taste, but matte ones are very pigmented, colors are bright , they are long lasting, easy to apply thanks to a fine felt tip, the texture is not too thick nor too thin and it applies evenly , without streaks nor patches. It shows on dark colors such as black, just one layer is enough, and I love matching them with smoky eyes or with neutral eye makeup looks to add a pop of color and turn them into unique looks!

1. power pro nail lacquers:  they launched this new nail lacquer line earlier last year and , so far, I bought about 30 shades…you can tell I really like them! They are long lasting, I love the color range because there are unique shades to choose from, they all look classy but at the same time they’re not dull or basic, they’ve got a glossy finish, they’re easy to apply thanks to the applicator brush, they’re very pigmented , colors are full , in one word they’re amazing, you have to try them!

Ho pensato fosse un’idea interessante quella di scrivere un post in cui vi elenco i prodotti che amo , e quelli che odio, di ogni marca, o meglio delle marche di cui ho provato più prodotti! La prima marca non poteva che essere la Kiko, ormai sapete che sono una kiko dipendente e ho provato la maggior parte dei loro prodotti, possiamo dire che sono un’esperta! Quello che mi piace di questa marca è il rapporto qualità prezzo, decisamente ottimo, e la varietà di prodotti presenti in gamma, non solo per quel che riguarda il makeup, ma anche per quel che riguarda la skin care; se dovessi scegliere una sola marca da cui acquistare per il resto della vita credo che la scelta ricadrebbe su Kiko perché mi dà la certezza di trovare tanti prodotti di trucco e anche di skin care,la gamma colori è vastissima, inoltre so che non mi annoierei mai perché escono diverse edizioni limitate ogni anno, ecco perché amo così tanto questo brand!

Iniziamo a parlare dei flop, per finire poi con i prodotti top:

4. color shock cream eyeshadows: uscirono un paio di anni fa con un’edizione limitata e io ne acquistai due, un blu elettrico intenso e un delicato oro rosa. Quello blu lo uso come eyeliner e mi trovo bene perché è molto pigmentato,una volta che si fissa non si sposta,è facile da stendere e il colore è bellissimo, quindi non è un flop a tutti gli effetti ,lo uso anche come base cremosa per ombretti, ma li ho inseriti tra i flop perché, usati da soli, non danno un bel risultato: enfatizzano le pieghette, si seccano e l’effetto che si ottiene non è piacevole secondo me . vanno bene se usati come basi in crema per ombretti, ma non li ricomprerei.

3. smart lipsticks dalla finitura perlata: questa è la linea più economica di rossetti Kiko, la gamma di colori è vasta, sicuramente troverete un colore che vi piace , a me ne piacciono diversi, li trovo validi come rossetti per tutti i giorni, sono economici,hanno una finitura cremosa che apprezzo e, per il prezzo che hanno, la durata è buona. La mia opinione cambia quando parliamo di quelli dalla finitura perlata: secondo me è una finitura che andava di moda qualche anno fa e che, adesso, risulta datata e di sicuro non sono la mia prima scelta. La qualità è la stessa degli altri rossetti, il problema è che non mi piace l’effetto, che definirei vintage.

2. automatic lip pencils : se da un lato apprezzo la gamma di colori di questa linea, dall’altro sono stata delusa dalla loro qualità:si spezzano con estrema facilità, praticamente ogni volta che le uso se ne rompe un pezzo.nonostante io faccio attenzione e non esercito pressione, è la consistenza e la qualità del prodotto che lascia molto a desiderare.

1. Il prodotto che mi ha deluso di più è sicuramente la spazzola viso! Ha resistito solo cinque giorni e poi è letteralmente caduta a pezzi, sono rimasta scioccata! So che ad alcune persone è durata anni, non so perché la mia non abbia resistito nemmeno una settimana, la lavavo dopo ogni uso e aspettavo che fosse asciutta prima di riporla nella scatola. Quando ho visto le setole sparse ovunque non credevo ai miei occhi, non mi aspettavo che avesse una riuscita così pessima!

Passiamo ai prodotti top:

5. unlimited stylo lipsticks: anche di questi prodotti vi ho parlato in altre occasioni, qui potete leggere la mia recensione, ne possiedo 14 e questo vi fa capire quanto li amo! Hanno una consistenza vellutata e cremosa, sono facili da stendere ma , una volta che si fissano, la finitura si trasforma in opaca e il prodotto ha una durata estrema, durano tutto il giorno. Resistono senza problemi ai pasti senza sbiadire né sbavare, è vero che dopo parecchie ore seccano le labbra , ma per me non è un grosso problema perché le mie labbra non diventano mai secche. Se le vostre lo sono vi consiglio di usare un balsamo labbra prima di applicarli.

4. long lasting stick eyeshadows : sono, probabilmente, tra i prodotti Kiko più amati, e lo sono a ragion veduta! Hanno una lunghissima durata, una consistenza cremosa che li fa scivolare sulla palpebra, sono facili da sfumare ma si fissano in pochi secondi e, una volta fissati, rimangono dove li avete messi per tutto il giorno! Li adoro come basi per ombretti , per far risaltare e rendere più intensi i colori, e per far aderire meglio alla palpebra le polveri libere, aumentandone di conseguenza la durata, ma sono ottimi anche da usare da soli per un trucco veloce. Sono disponibili in tante colorazioni diverse, da quelle neutre fino a quelle più accese!

3. ombretti kiko infinity: anche questo è un prodotto di cui ho parlato spesso, trovate la mia recensione completa qui, sono ombretti che amo per la vasta gamma di colori disponibile e per la varietà di finiture, che vanno dall’opaca alla shimmer alla satinata. Potete riporli in una delle loro palette personalizzabili o potete usare una Z palette, la scelta è personale;sono pigmentatissimi, facili da sfumare e hanno un’ottima durata, l’unico lato negativo è che sono abbastanza polverosi, ma posso passarci sopra considerando il loro prezzo e la loro qualità!

2. super color liners: se amate sperimentare con gli eyeliner colorati questo è il prodotto che fa per voi! Preferisco le tonalità opache, quelle perlate hanno una consistenza un po’ troppo acquosa secondo me, mentre quelle opache sono molto pigmentate, i colori sono intensi, sono a lunga durata, sono facili da stendere grazie a una punta sottile in feltro,la consistenza non è né troppo pastosa né troppo liquida, non lasciano striature e si applicano in modo omogeneo, dando una buona copertura già dalla prima passata. A me piace abbinarli a smoky eyes scuri oppure a trucchi dai colori neutri , per ravvivarli e renderli originali.

1. power pro nail lacquers:  questa linea è uscita verso la metà dell’altr’anno e , finora, ne ho acquistate circa 30 colorazioni…è evidente che mi piacciono tantissimo! Sono a lunga durata, trovo la gamma di colori veramente interessante perché comprende tonalità uniche e non scontate, tutte molto eleganti ma non banali, hanno una finitura glossata, sono facili da stendere grazie al pennello applicatore, i colori sono pieni,la pigmentazione è alta, insomma in una sola parola sono fantastici!
