One product review : the body shop rainforest coconut oil

Today we’re talking about hair care, a subject I care about because I’ve got long and colored hair, and I want it to be as healthy as possible! My hair is curly and dry, even more so because I dye it, and it needs constant and deep conditioning. I usually deep condition it twice a month by mixing shea butter, pure coconut oil and another oil such as jojoba, monoi, castor or olive oil and I leave it on my hair a whole night. Once I wash it it’s very shiny, soft and nourished! When it’s still damp, after washing it, I apply some of the product I’m going to talk about in a minute, and I do the same daily, only on my ends. Keep in mind my hair is very long, almost waist length, dry and colored so it needs to be moisturized daily. It might seem a lot of oil but it gets absorbed and my hair isn’t greasy, it actually needs it! 

One of my favourite hair oil is the body shop coconut oil, I’ve tried many and I use different ones but I’ve always got this one in stock!

Let’s see how it’s described:   a nice intensive pre shampoo treatment. It can be applied at night or massaged on your scalp, it’s perfect for dry , treated and damaged hair. With virgin bio coconut oil by Fair Trade, parabens, silicon and colouring free. Price 11.00 € - 15.00 $ for 200 ml.

Ingredients:

Glycine Soja Oil/Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil (Emollient/Skin Conditioner), Cocos Nucifera Oil/Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil (Emollient/Hair Conditioner), Parfum/Fragrance (Fragrance), Tocopherol (Antioxidant), Pentaclethra Macroloba Seed Oil (Skin-Conditioning Agent), Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil/Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil (Emollient), Rosmarinus Officinalis Extract/Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Extract (Astringent), Coumarin (Fragrance Ingredient), Citric Acid (pH Adjuster).

What I like: it’s a light texture oil that gets absorbed really fast and it doesn’t leave your hair greasy or heavy, but it truly moisturize it and keep it shiny and soft, frizz free. A little goes a long way, you just have to put a tiny bit on your hands and run them through your hair. I use it daily and I’ve never felt my hair heavy or oily. It smells of coconut but it’s not a strong scent and it won’t last long . it’s perfect for summer , you could put it in your bag and apply it while sun tanning to protect your hair, I use it all year round though. Bottle is plastic one with a sifter for an easy application, and it’s transparent so you can see how much is left.

What I don’t like : to me it’s a very good product, I can’t think of any fault apart that maybe it might be a bit too heavy on greasy hair as it’s rich and nourishing ; if your hair is greasy I suggest you to try with a little amount of it just on your ends and to use it as pre shampoo treatment, not like I do as everyday moisturizer.

My verdict: I can’t go without it, I need a hair oil to moisturize my hair daily and I love this one because it’s not too heavy, not greasy and it keeps my hair shiny, soft and bouncy and it prevents it from splitting!

Oggi parliamo di cura dei capelli, un argomento a cui tengo molto dal momento che ho i capelli lunghi e colorati, e voglio mantenerli il più sani possibile! I miei capelli sono naturalmente ricci e tendenti al secco, problema accentuato dalla tintura, e hanno quindi bisogno di una nutrizione profonda e costante. Di norma faccio un impacco due volte al mese, mischiando burro di karitè, olio puro di cocco e un altro olio a rotazione fra jojoba, monoi, ricino o di oliva, e lo lascio in posa tutta la notte. La mattina seguente li lavo e sono morbidi, lucidi e setosi! Dopo averli lavati e tamponati con un asciugamano applico , sulle punte, un po’ del prodotto di cui vi parlo oggi. Tenete presente che i miei capelli arrivano quasi alla vita, sono colorati e quindi hanno bisogno di un’idratazione profonda: può sembrare che applichi molto olio, ma in realtà viene assorbito e non li lascia unti, proprio perchè ne sentono la necessità!

Uno dei miei oli per capelli preferiti è quello di cocco di the body shop,ne ho provati molti altri e li alterno, ma ho sempre qualche bottiglia pronta da usare di questo prodotto! 

Vediamo come viene descritto: Un piacevole trattamento intensivo pre-lavaggio, notturno o per il massaggio della cute, perfetto per capelli secchi, deboli o danneggiati. Con olio di cocco vergine biologico del Commercio Equo ed olio di pracaxi della foresta Amazzonica. Senza siliconi, parabeni e coloranti. Prezzo 11.00 € - 15.00 $ per 200 ml.

Cosa mi piace: è un olio leggero che si assorbe velocemente e non lascia i capelli unti o appesantiti, ma li rende morbidi, lucidi, nutriti ed elimina l’effetto crespo. Ne serve pochissimo, basta versarne una piccola quantità sulla mano e poi far scorrere le dita fra i capelli per distribuirlo uniformemente. Io lo uso quotidianamente e non mi è mai successo di avere i capelli unti o di sentirli pesanti. Ha un profumo delicato di noce di cocco che non dura molto a lungo. È perfetto per l’estate, da mettere nella vostra borsa da spiaggia e da applicare mentre vi abbronzate per proteggere i vostri capelli; io lo uso tutto l’anno, non solo nella stagione estiva. La bottiglia è di plastica ed ha un pratico dosatore con un foro che permette di dosare facilmente il prodotto, ed è anche trasparente in modo da tenere sotto controllo la quantità che avete a disposizione.

Cosa non mi piace: lo trovo un ottimo prodotto ed è difficile trovargli difetti, forse potrebbe risultare troppo pesante sui capelli grassi essendo così ricco e nutriente; se i vostri capelli appartengono a questa categoria vi consiglio di applicarne veramente pochissimo sulle punte e vedere come reagiscono, e di usarlo come trattamento pre lavaggio, di modo che poi lo risciacquiate .

Il mio verdetto: io non ne posso fare a meno, mi serve un olio da usare tutti i giorni e  con questo mi trovo benissimo perché nutre ma non appesantisce,previene la formazione di doppie punte, i miei capelli sono morbidi, setosi, nutriti ed elastici!
